How training works: blended online + on-site practical

Your operations keep running. We cycle through your operators one at a time, so you never have to shut down a shift or pull your whole crew off the floor for training.

1. Online theory

Each operator completes the theory on a computer, tablet or phone, when it suits your schedule. Quizzes along the way and a final exam at the end confirm what they’ve learned.

2. On-site practical training

Our trainer comes to your site and works with one operator at a time on your equipment, while the rest of your crew keeps working. We schedule it once your operators have finished the online theory.

3. Practical evaluation

Each operator is evaluated on inspection and operating skills on your equipment before a certificate is issued.

4. Digital certificate

Every operator who passes gets a certificate on a free digital wallet card. Pull it up online any time and forward it to a contractor, a Workplace Safety and Health officer, or anyone who needs proof your operators are trained.

Telehandler & Zoom Boom Certification FAQ

What is a Class 7 forklift?

Class 7 is the rough-terrain forklift class. It covers telehandlers (also called zoom booms or telescopic handlers) and straight-mast rough-terrain forklifts, the big-tired machines used on construction sites, in lumber yards and on farms.

Do I need a certificate to run a telehandler in Manitoba?

Yes. Under Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Regulation 22.29, an employer can’t let a worker run a powered lift truck, including a telehandler, until that worker has been trained, tested and issued a certificate. People often call it a zoom boom ticket or telehandler license.

Does a regular forklift certificate cover a telehandler?

No. A certificate for warehouse forklifts (Class 1, 4 or 5) doesn’t cover Class 7 machines. Operators need training and evaluation on the telehandler or rough-terrain forklift they will use.

How much does telehandler training cost?

$325 for one operator, $225 per operator for 2–7, $1,795 for a group of 8–10, and $175 for each operator over 10. Travel fees apply outside the Winnipeg Perimeter Highway.

Do you train outside Winnipeg?

Yes. We train on construction sites, yards and farms across Manitoba and in Northwestern Ontario. Travel fees apply outside the Winnipeg Perimeter Highway.

How long is a telehandler certificate good for?

Three years. After that, or after an incident or a change in equipment, operators need recertification.

What happens when training is finished?

Each operator who passes gets a certificate on a free digital wallet card, and you get the training records for your files.

What standard does your training follow?

Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health regulations and the CSA/ANSI standards for rough-terrain lift trucks, including ANSI/ITSDF B56.6.

Do you train on our own machine?

Yes. We train on the telehandler or rough-terrain forklift your operators actually use, with your attachments and on your site.

Class 7 machines we certify

New operators get the full program. Experienced operators get training matched to their level, focused on fixing bad habits. Operators coming back after an incident get training built around what happened.

Class 7 recertification (ticket renewal)

Class 7 certification in Manitoba is good for three years. We recertify operators on site, and we can also combine online theory with an on-site practical evaluation.
